EmilyAnn Virtual Events & Activities during Covid-19 Shutdown

  • Butterfly Festival - Please post videos and pictures of your caterpillar and butterfly release on social media with #butterflyfest2020 so we can all share in the magic of the butterfly together. We'll be looking forward to seeing you all at the actual festival next year!

  • Princess Song & Story Time - For a minimum $5 donation, you can have your child's favorite princess zoom call for a song, story, and chat with your child at home! Email bridget@emilyann.org to set up a chat time.

  • Shakepeare Live! - Join our professionally and classically trained actors as they read and act out some of Shakespeare's greatest works, from the comfort of their living rooms yours. The Tempest, our first reading, will be posted for your enjoyment on Friday and Saturday, April 10th (the first half of the play) and 11th (second half of the play), both at 6pm.

  • PLAYwrights - Instead of having our winning 2nd-5th grade playwrights attend the performances of their plays live, we'll have them acted and read by the professional actors and online for everyone to enjoy on Saturday, April 25th! Check our EmilyAnn facebook page and website on that date to join us.

Covid-19 Announcements

2020 Butterfly Festival

Out of a true concern for the safety of our patrons, staff and volunteers, and after consulting with health officials, we feel that we have no choice but to cancel this year's Butterfly Festival at the EmilyAnn due to the Covid-19 outbreak. We are of course desperately sad about this as it is such a meaningful time for our community but also for us as a family.

In light of these unprecedented events, we are going to do our best to still bring the magic of the Butterfly Festival to our community! We will continue with any features of the lead-up that are possible. These are listed below.

For the day-of events we are going to try something new this year. We are excited to try and take as much of the Butterfly Festival virtual. We are working out the details and will share them here on the web site very soon!

Again, we are all sad about the situation but we must do what is best for our entire community. We are going to use the great power and symbolism of the butterfly to bring hope and healing to a world that is truly suffering right now.

Lead-up Features:
  • 4800 caterpillars are already at the EmilyAnn so they are being taken care of as we evaluate the school closure situation. We are working on release plans for those butterflies that will allow the children to participate in the magic of the butterflies in their last weeks before hatching and when they are ready to fly.

Theatre Productions

To our beloved EmilyAnn Theatre patrons,

After much consideration, and in an effort to do our part in helping to contain and stop the spread of Covid-19, it has been decided that we will take the following actions in regard to our current and upcoming productions:
  • Our current production in our children's theatre series, Sleeping Beauty, is now cancelled.
  • Our upcoming production of Blood Brothers, the Musical will be postponed to mid-June, with new dates to be posted on our website soon.
  • Our upcoming production, The Neverending Story, is now cancelled.
We give our sincerest thanks for your support in this decision. If you have any questions or concerns about this decision, please contact our Artistic Director, Bridget Gates at bridget@emilyann.org.

Please stay safe, and we encourage you to do your part in helping to keep others safe as well.
